Ask questions about a file
Upload a file and ask MasterOS about its contents, with the current file-type and size limits.
You can upload a personal file and then ask questions about it in chat — MasterOS extracts and indexes its text so your questions can be answered with citations back to the source file.
Supported files today
- File types: plain text, Markdown, PDF, and
.docx(Word). - Size limit: 20 MB per file.
- Anything outside that list is rejected at upload time, before it's stored.
What happens on upload
- The file is scanned for malware.
- If it passes, it's stored and its text is extracted.
- The file becomes available to reference in chat once extraction finishes.
If the scan or extraction fails, the upload is marked failed and won't be usable in chat — you'll need to re-upload.
Scope
Uploaded files are personal to your account in this edition — there's no team- or organization-wide shared Knowledge base yet (that's planned for the Team/Organization editions).
Removing a file
You can delete a file you've uploaded; this also removes it from storage.
